Counselor-Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Missouri teaching certificate.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience.
- Master's degree with a major emphasis in guidance and counseling.
REPORTS TO: Building Principals
JOB GOAL:
To counsel individuals and provide group educational and vocational guidance services by perforrning the following duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES :
- Provide support services for students in the areas of academic programs, team teaching, registration, course planning, school rules and other matters.
- Assesses and counsels students based on observations, conversations and test results.
- Provides personal counseling for students, families and groups to help them learn greater self-understanding, acceptance of responsibility and better decision-making skills.
4. Provides group counseling for interaction, communication and support skill development.
- Interprets post-high school opportunities and available information regarding career, college, military and life style decisions.
- Administers tests and diagnoses results in areas such as organization, memory skills, aptitude and preferences.
- Consults with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students.
- Responds to crisis situations when appropriate.
- Performs diagnostic activities as needed to identifr possible student learning impairments and develop appropriate programs where necessary.
- Serve as a consultant to the district's professional staff on matters pertaining to the education of children with learring impairments.
- Perform such other duties as may be delegated by the superintendent or his/her designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation of professional Personnel. |
