TITLE:  Secondary Teacher-Social Studies

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Education
2. Certification for position as required by the Missouri State Board of Education

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL:

RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. Demonstrates appropriate preparation for classroom instruction of the curriculum as adopted by the Board of Education.
2. Implements a variety of effective teaching techniques that take into consideration different learning styles and individual differences in students.
3. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time of instruction.
4. Demonstrates a knowledge of subject matter and participates in selected professional growth activities in teaching area and in other areas of educational improvement.
5. Participates in curriculum development programs and committees as required.
6. Participates in faculty comrnittees and sponsorship of school activities.
7. Demonstrates an ability to motivate students to develop their frll potential.
8. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interprets the school program.
9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide a productive classroom environment.
10. Follows policies and procedures of school district as developed by the Board of Education and Administration.

11. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, peers, and school administration.
12. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities, hallways, etc.
13. Selects and requisitions instructional materials and textbooks for curricular areas and maintains required inventory records.
14. Shares other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:           9.5 months/190 days

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
